It’s Alive! The HP Slate 500 arrives with pen + touch, Evernote, and more!
HTC and TomTom Team Up For Navigation
T-Mobile’s HTC HD7 in stores November 8th for $199.99
I am was sitting there last night a little upset and I looked over at the iPad on the keyboard dock collecting dust and it made me happy that I made a choice not to buy the MacBook Air 11 today. I almost bought one on an impulse just before I left work. I thought [...]
At today’s “Back to the Mac” event, Steve Jobs and company showed off Mac OS X 7 a.k.a. Lion. Unlike the Snow Leopard release, which was primarily under the hood improvements, Lion is mostly UI improvements, specifically features they’re bringing in from the iPad and iOS.
Engadget Reviews the HTC HD7
After months and months (and months) of floating in limbo, the HP Slate 500 Tablet PC, formerly known simply as the HP Slate, is finally on its way. Having seen leak after leak about the specs and even video of it in action, it may seem like it’s out of surprises, but the official specs [...]
Say what you will about Apple’s new MacBook Air as a device that you can purchase today. What’s more important is that it is pointing towards a future that we’re not quite ready for yet. When I say “we” I mean the technology isn’t ready and neither is the consumer. Steve Jobs made a big [...]
As I wrote in my initial impressions of the iPhone 4, the battery life in my usage scenario is much improved. Typically when I go to charge the iPhone up at night I’ve got anywhere from 50% to 60% left, sometimes much more depending on the day. I think I actually said something like I [...]
Today, embargo lifts on Windows Phone 7 device reviews. This is an embargo that was put into place by Microsoft covering the release software. As you may or may not know, reviewers were able to post reviews of the early versions of WP7 on the developer devices they were loaned. This is a bigger milestone. [...]
Apple Ships USB for Software Reinstall on MacBook Air
How is AT&T going to market Windows Phone 7 in stores?
Angry Birds Goes All Halloweeny on the iPhone and the iPad
Apple (and Tablets) Pointing the Way to a Future We’re Not Quite Ready For
SlingPlayer for Windows Phone 7 Demo Video
I guess the buzz that AT&T is getting tonight with the Windows Phone 7 embargo being lifted a couple of hours ago has T-Mobile a little envious. I don’t know why there are no reviews of the T-Mo HTC HD7 hitting the interwebz right now, no idea at all and since HTC has devices out [...]
Mobile device users in these parts have been used to creating install images on USB sticks for quite some time. It isn’t a completely painless process, but it saves some aggravation and the use of a USB optical disk drive if and when you need to do a reinstall, or you’re just playing around with [...]
External Battery and Charging Options for the iPhone 4: MiLi, Mophie, and Powermat
Fellow GBMer Chris Leckness sparked a conversation with this post, I don’t use my iPad. Am I Alone? A few folks say they are in the same place as Chris. A few more asked him to send his iPad to them if he wasn’t using it. I’m responding to his points here, because I’m in [...]
The “one more thing” at today’s Apple event was a new Macbook Air. Steve teased us by mentioning some of the features they’re taking from the iPad for this new MBA, but ultimately, it’s just a smaller, newer model. Oh,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and it has a younger brother.
One of the challenges I brought up to Microsoft a couple times in meetings was how the carriers will be able to sell Windows Phone 7 to customers when there are so many variables already going against Microsoft. What I am about to share doesn’t hit all those variables, but it’s a good start.
Example of Why Apple’s iLife Matters
Report: FaceTime Beta Has a Security Flaw
In what looks like a rather lengthy (and many on Twitter are saying boring) walk through of all the new features in Apple’s iLife, the folks at TechCrunch let their eye wander and managed to spot a Facetime icon in the Apple Dock. No surprise there for? many. Update: The beta software is online.
Last night, I mentioned in a review wrap up post that I didn’t see any HTC HD7 reviews popping up. I went off to play some games and watch some MMA and returned to find a review from Engadget in my RSS feeds. Unfortunately, this review is not the US, T-Mobile version, but the hardware [...]
jkOnTheRun shares a pair of Windows 7 touch interfaces
As we pointed out yesterday, a lot apps are finally starting to show up in Microsoft’s App Market. With 1,000 apps in the App Market,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Microsoft has some serious catching up to do. Fortunately, it looks like SlingPlayer for Windows Phone 7 will be out soon and it’s one good looking app. It’s already available [...]
Halloween has become as commercial as the Christmas holidays, at least here in the US. If you peruse the Apple App Store you’ll see a range of Halloween themed games and book titles appearing. I think I’ve been emailed about 10 different versions of Dracula or some vampire themed book/game. Lots of folks are trying [...]
Here’s a shot of how I’m watching Apple’s Back to the Mac event. I’m using the iMac to watch and listen to Leo LaPorte’s running commentary on one screen, keeping up with the team and with Twitter on a second monitor. The iPad is streaming the event live, and the Tega v2 to follow some [...]
Facetime Coming to the Macs
I’m Using My iPad More and More. Am I Alone?
Apple announced iLife ’11, am updated suite of multimedia apps today. A lot of people?criticize these apps as being too simplistic, but iLife is just what the doctor ordered and is a ?big part of why people enjoy using their macs. I use iLife apps quite a bit on my MacBook Pro, even though I [...]
Windows Phone 7 Review Wrap Up
HTC has been talking about its HTC Locations for some time now, and it looks like it has chosen a partner to make it happen and that partner is TomTom. The partnership is touting a “zero-wait” navigation experience and it will only be available initially on the HTC Desire D and Z models in Europe [...]
Maybe you want to wait before rushing to try out that FaceTime Beta that is now available for Macs. MacNotes.de is reporting that there is a security flaw that leaves a user’s Apple ID and password exposed as well as all of the account settings. Once you’ve logged into FaceTime you can have a look [...]
I don’t use my iPad. Am I alone?
Mac OS X Lion: OS X meets the iPad
New Macbook Air goes smaller and cheaper
Our good friend James Kendrick has a run down of two touch interface overlays for Windows 7 tablets,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Thinix Touch and Mirabyte FrontFace, both shown off on his TEGA v2. Slick looking interface environments. Very informative video from James. But ultimately, overlays like these only cover up the problems beneath.
